Ingredients
1cupWhite rice(I used Basmati)
1cupWater
½tspCurry
¼tspGround turmeric
¼tspSweet paprika
¼tspCoriander powder
¼tspGround cumin
½tspSalt
1tbspOlive oil
1tbspButter
Instructions
Wash the rice until the water runs (mostly) clear. Set aside.
Measure out all the spices and seasonings and add to a small dish. Set aside.
Add olive oil and butter to a saucepan/small pot and heat until the butter melts.
Add the spices to the butter and oil and toast for 10-15 seconds, until fragrant.
Add the washed riced to the butter and oil mixture and stir until well coated.
Add the water to the rice and bring to a boil. As soon as it starts to boil, reduce the heat to lowest setting, cover the pot with a lid and set the timer for 15 minutes.
Once the rice is done, immediately remove from heat (otherwise the bottom can burn).
