Alcoholic Whipped Cream
Whipped cream is one of my favorite creams to use in the kitchen. And alcoholic whipped cream has become a new variation around here. It gives an indulgent twist on an already well-loved cream.
You don’t need a lot of alcohol for making alcoholic whipped cream. The goal here is to give a different note of flavor to the cream. Technically speaking, if you are using real vanilla extract in your cream, you are already making alcoholic whipped cream. The most common way to make vanilla extract is to use vodka. So there is that. More details here.
Anyhow, give this whipped cream a try using one of the alcohols described (or any other you might have on hand). I hope you like it.

Ingredients Needed for Alcoholic Whipped Cream
Heavy Whipping Cream
Sugar – or vanilla sugar
Alcohol of choice – I tested using cognac, (light) rum, and vodka.
How to make Alcoholic Whipped Cream
Pour your heavy whipping cream into a bowl. Add the sugar and choice of alcohol to the heavy cream. Using a hand mixer, beat the cream until stiff (about 5 minutes). Don’t over-beat.
Alcoholic Whipped Cream with Cognac
This cognac-infused whipped cream goes well with chocolate desserts, coffee beverages, and even fruit tarts. I really liked it in a cup of homemade hot chocolate. Check out my recipe for Hot Chocolate Using Chocolate bar!
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cognac
Alcoholic Whipped Cream with Rum
Pair this rum-infused whipped cream with pineapple upside-down cake, coconut cream pie, or even a simple bowl of fresh berries.
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 – 2 teaspoons light rum
The rum flavor was very light here, so you might need to use more rum to intensify it.
Alcoholic Whipped Cream with Vodka
This vodka-infused whipped cream complements desserts like tiramisu, espresso-flavored cakes, and even a classic bowl of strawberries.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons Vodka (37.5%)
The Vodka flavor was very very light for me, so I recommend using at least 2 teaspoons in this variation. If your Vodka is higher proof, you might need to use less. In the US the legal minimum alcohol content for Vodka is 40%, so your Vodka will be slightly stronger.
Whipped Cream Variations
Alcohol – use any alcohol you have on hand. Each one will give you a different flavor profile and you might find a new flavor you like.
Sugar – instead of sugar, use vanilla sugar. It gives the whipped cream an additional note of flavor. Powdered Sugar can also be used instead of normal sugar.
What to Serve Alcoholic Whipped Cream with
- HOT CHOCOLATE USING CHOCOLATE BAR – The Cognac-infused whipped cream tasted especially good with this hot chocolate. I would definitely recommend making it if you make hot chocolate.
- TIRAMISU – Use a different flavored whipped cream when making Tiramisu.
- COLD BREW COFFEE – Add to cold brew coffee (or any coffee) for a different flavor profile.
Experimenting with alcoholic whipped cream gives you lots of different flavor options for your desserts. Use your alcohol of choice to elevate your desserts to a whole new level.
